What trip level is right for you?

All the Hvitserk tours are active holidays. This level indicator is based on knowing you want to go on an active holiday trip to Norway. Though you will have close contact with the Norwegian culture, the primary focus of the trip is doing activities. 

 

The scale takes these factors into consideration: physical level, terrain exposure, elevation gain and the number of physically active hours each day. Tours at level 4 and 5 are often situated off the beaten track. Participants must, therefore, be prepared and used to more technical off trail hiking.

 

LEVEL 1

Even though they are our least demanding tours, we guarantee that you can look forward to an eventful holiday with great cultural and nature experiences. A tour at this level have short activities each day and they will not be too challenging. The travelers will have plenty of time to enjoy the nature and destinations visited, decompress, and still achieve some incredible nature experiences.

LEVEL 2

At this level, we will have to work a bit more for the experiences. Participants need a moderate fitness level, but most importantly the will to explore. Together with your guide, you will experience enjoyment and mastery. Although there are mountains to be hiked, we will have plenty of time to enjoy the view, breathe in the surroundings, and socialize in the group. Some might find parts of the tour challenging, but we believe that most nature enthusiasts, or those new to hiking, will manage trips at this level as long as they come with a positive attitude. The hikes last up to 3-6 hours per day at an easy pace, and we will hike less than 1,000 meters of elevation each day.

LEVEL 3

These tours require more of the participants. It will be demanding to reach the destination, but if you like to exercise, and have been training prior to the departure, you will have a life-long experience together with your fellow travelers, even with some struggle. Mental preparation to try your best, as well as physical training, will help you enjoy a trip of this level. Each day we hike up to 6-10 hours at a moderate pace. These trips can have 1,000-1,200 meters of elevation per day. Norwegian trails tend to be steep and challenging, often with rocky or rooty terrain. Especially on days when it is rainy, it's important to be mentally prepared and excited to try a new hiking experience and enjoy the Norwegian nature. 

LEVEL 4

A trip at this level requires that you have prepared well and are ready for real challenges. Training or high physical fitness is required. The days can be long, and we will probably be hiking over 6 hours most days, and elevation can vary from 1,000-2,000 meters. Experienced hikers will have great experiences on tours at this level. Some might feel that parts of the trip are a bit tough; however, the reward is greater when you succeed.

LEVEL 5

This is our toughest level of adventure tours. You must work hard to reach the goal, they are both physically and mentally demanding, and require careful preparation and previous experience. On some trips, there might be a prerequisite that you have traveled with us before, and we often have training camps before the adventure starts. If you are dedicated, like tough challenges and are looking for a unique experience in the wilderness, these are the right challenges for you!
