In the new movie Mission Impossible: Fallout, Tom Cruise (aka. Ethan Hunt) hangs off a more than 600-meter tall cliff (nearly 2000 feet) in Kashmir. Or, is it really in Kashmir? The cliff or mountain if you like is named Preikestolen (The Pulpit Rock), and it is one of the most famous hiking tours in the Norwegian Fjords.

You don’t have to be a superhero to hike Preikestolen!

The view from the cliff Preikestolen is amazing, and it is quite easy to get up there! The hike itself is not strenuous, and even people with less hiking experiences will be able to make it. You will also find guided tours within the area, so, if you don’t want to go there alone you can join a group of people hiking both on and off the beaten tracks.

Where in Norway is it?

Preikestolen, also known as Pulpit Rock, is situated by the Norwegian Fjord Lysefjorden in the county of Rogaland. The nearest airport is Sola, in Stavanger, with both direct international and domestic connections. From the airport it is less than 1h 30m drive to Preikestolen Mountain Lodge. The hike to Preikestolen starts at the Preikestolen Mountain Lodge (parking fee), and takes approximately 4 hours round trip.
