Hiking in Lofoten: the land of the midnight sun

On this trekking trip through Lofoten, we head for some of the greatest hiking destinations in this world-famous group of islands. We travel large parts of the islands and stay in traditional fishermen's housing in small, charming fishing villages.

“I really enjoyed the whole week and wish I could have stayed for longer. Lofoten is such an amazing place, beautiful scenery, great hiking conditions, lovely friendly people... I had the best time exploring it. I said to the guides that by the end of the week my face was hurting as I'd been smiling so much.”— Guest 2017

The polar and Arctic regions of Norway offer some of the most stunning nature known to man. In the heart of Arctic Norway, you find the world-known archipelago of Lofoten.

Hvitserk of Norway has traveled all seasons in Lofoten for decades. We've picked out the best walks, the most stunning iconic views, as well as some hidden gems on our eight-day exploration of the wild and untamed islands. Dramatic mountains, long white beaches, wild sea and rich wildlife offer the visitors of Lofoten a true "fairy tale" landscape.

Lofoten is known for its very rich Cod fishery, and for more than 100 years Norwegians have sailed to Lofoten to participate in the annual fishery. Numerous books, folklores, and songs have been inspired by the dramatic "Lofotfisket". On our trip, we stay in the very same authentic accommodation that fishermen did during the fishery. Upgrades have been made to make it comfortable, but the atmosphere and look of the "fishermen rorbuer" are still highly intact.

The treks we organize are varied and deliberately chosen to show you the best spots in Lofoten. We have a flexible program to ensure that we will find the best spots and views, at the very best time. We get a lot of questions concerning how people can experience the midnight sun in Norway. For those who are interested, we will arrange evening treks to some fantastic viewpoints. Attach your camera strap, you will not get many opportunities like this in your life!

Our trip starts in Bodø, but it is also possible to join the group on day two in Moskenes, in the southern part of Lofoten. Bodø is accessible with direct flights from Oslo and Bergen. From Bodø we travel to Moskenes with a ferry. Our stay in Lofoten ends in the town of Solvær or at Evenes airport (your choice). Getting to Oslo is easy from both places.
